Glengoyne 15 Year Old is a rich, rounded step up from the 12, and one of the most praised bottles in the Glengoyne core range. It’s an unpeated Highland single malt made from air-dried barley, so there’s no smoke at all, matured for 15 years in a mix of first-fill bourbon, first-fill sherry and refill casks. Sweet bourbon-cask character meets rich, fruity sherry notes, in the distillery’s light and fruity house style. 43% vol, 70cl. Awards include the Chairman’s Award (97 points) at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2017.

Tasting notes 👃
The nose is fresh and layered: hay and malt flour, orange marmalade and citrus, sultanas and dried fruit, with black cherry and a hint of coconut cream. The palate is creamy and almost unctuous, with vanilla sweetness and a pinch of black pepper. The finish is malty and sweetly spiced, drying gently with lingering oak. Smooth, generous and dangerously easy to drink.

Glengoyne sits on the Highland Line just north of Glasgow, and whisky fans still debate whether it’s Highland or Lowland. It prides itself on being the “unhurried” single malt, taking its time over both distillation and maturation. It is known for its pure, unpeated style, in which the spirit and the casks do all the work. The distillery is owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, the family-owned Scottish company behind Smokehead.
