About the product 🥃
Rampur Jugalbandi #7 is one of the two final releases in Rampur’s eight-part Jugalbandi series, named after the Indian classical duet in which two soloists perform together. Here the two soloists are casks. The spirit is distilled in copper pot stills at the Rampur Distillery in the Himalayan foothills and matured first in American bourbon barrels. It is then finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak, which adds floral notes, sandalwood and umami depth. The result is a limited, cask-strength Indian single malt that brings together American warmth, Japanese elegance and Indian craftsmanship.
Tasting notes 👃
On the nose, tropical fruit and delicate florals come first, followed by vanilla pod, honeycomb and soft orchard fruit. The Mizunara adds sandalwood, cherry blossom, green tea and a hint of coconut. The palate opens silky and sweet with caramel, toffee and maple syrup, then deepens into gentle spice, roasted almond, a wisp of incense smoke and an elegant umami character. The finish is long and contemplative, with subtle spice, soft wood and a lingering oriental note.
