Holland's Ghost

A limited-release whiskey from Reservoir Distillery, created in collaboration with Mac McCormack — owner of Virginia's largest whiskey bar and known locally as "Richmond's Whiskey Godfather." The brief was to recreate a historic whiskey recipe lost to time. Reservoir's single-grain mash bill whiskies came close, but the missing element was barley character. The solution: finishing fully aged Reservoir whiskey for eight months in an ex-bourbon barrel that had previously been used by Ardent Craft Ales to age a stout. The residual stout character — roasted barley, malt depth and a subtle ale sweetness — filled the gap and completed the profile. Available for a limited time only.

As with the rest of the Reservoir range, grains are Virginia-grown from within 45 miles of the distillery, matured in small barrels with the house signature alligator char, and produced via open-top fermentation of up to 11 days followed by slow pot-still double distillation.
