About the product 🥃
Rampur Jugalbandi #8 is the closing chapter of Rampur’s eight-part Jugalbandi series, named after the Indian classical duet in which two soloists perform together. It is distilled in copper pot stills at the Rampur Distillery in the Himalayan foothills and matured first in American bourbon barrels. It is then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which add fig, raisin and cocoa. The result is a limited, cask-strength Indian single malt that is rich, warm and dessert-like.
Tasting notes 👃
The nose opens with soft vanilla, tropical fruit, floral honey and toasted coconut from the bourbon cask. The PX sherry follows with fig, dates, raisins, prunes and dark cherry, rounded off by cocoa, cinnamon, roasted nuts and a touch of oak char. The palate is velvety and full-bodied, with toffee, caramel and dark chocolate. Fig jam and fruitcake are balanced by nutmeg, clove and cinnamon, and the creamy bourbon base ties it all together. The finish is long, warm and indulgent, lingering on sweet spice and rich dried fruit.
