About the product 🥃
Stauning Danish Dry Gin is a clean, full-bodied Danish dry gin made with the same dedication to craft as the distillery’s whisky. The botanicals are juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, liquorice root and lemon peel, finished with a light touch of locally harvested pine shoots. They steep in alcohol for 24 hours, then are distilled in a traditional direct-fired copper pot still using the one-shot method. Only the heart of the run is used, and the gin is reduced to strength with fresh Stauning water. 43% vol, 70cl. Each bottle comes with an envelope of 3 taste strips for testing your sensitivity to bitterness, plus a QR code with tips for tailoring your Gin & Tonic. It has won a medal at the Gin Masters 2026.
Tasting notes 👃
Fresh and aromatic, with clear juniper. Citrus adds freshness and there’s a mild spice, while light herbal notes and a subtle hint of pine add depth. The finish is soft, round and well balanced, and the mouthfeel is smooth and elegant. Best served as a classic Gin & Tonic: 5 cl gin over ice, topped with tonic and finished with a strip of lemon peel.
About Stauning 🐾
Stauning is a Danish distillery in Skjern, on Denmark’s west coast, best known for its floor-malted whiskies. The gin carries the same approach: a simple, well-considered recipe with no shortcuts, and the pine shoots tie it to its place on the west coast. The Gin & Tonic can taste very different from person to person because tonic adds its own bitterness. That’s why the taste strips come in the box, and it’s a good talking point for staff and customers.
